There is something about the first big snow storm of the year that gets to the kid in me. Sleeping in, eating a hot breakfast and going out to play in the snow. Although modern technology made it possible for me to be remotely logged into two different networks running various troubleshooting operations while doing the above, which is just totally awesome.

So, here’s some stuff from my day:

Our Cozy Home

Looking South on Pershing Blvd

At The Dog Park

The last one is from our visit to Prairie Pastures Dog Park up at Eagle Point Park. 26 acres of doggie joy. Read more about the park here. It really is one of Clinton’s jewels and a world-class dog park.

If the President of the United States of America, wants to make a start-of-the-school-year address to the nation’s children, then he should be able to. Why? Because he’s the goddamn President of the United States of America. It’s one of the perks of the office. You don’t have to like it, or him, but you have to respect the office.

So, yes, I am a bit peeved that at Lyons Middle School the administrator just kind of took a laissez faire attitude and let the teacher’s decide for themselves and even though the speech occurred during the lunch hour, didn’t even bother tuning the big screen in the lunch room away from the bloody Weather Channel.

My fourth-grader got to watch it at Eagle Heights though. His comment was, “He talked about the same stuff you do, Daddy.” (Wipes tear.).
